Dexter Whitney joined the Leisure Group of Companies in February of 2007 as the Corporate Director of Food and Beverage. Dexter is an
experienced results-oriented manager with over 30 years of demonstrated achievement in the hospitality industry.
Prior to joining the company, Dexter spent 3 years as Director of Food and Beverage at the Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City, Kansas. Dexter was a member of their Corporate S.W.A.T. team and supported the opening of four new Lodges including; Williamsburg, Virginia, the Pocono Mountains Resort in Pennsylvania. Niagara Falls, Canada and the most recent in Mason, Ohio.
Dexter began his career in the kitchen and apprenticed under a European culinary staff at the Playboy Resort in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Dexter joined Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in the mid 1970’s where he spent 14 years developing his culinary and management skills. He participated in the opening of three new Hyatt Hotels including the Hyatt Regency at Crown Center in Kansas City.
Dexter joined the Kansas City Marriott Downtown in 1989. During his eight-year tenure he was instrumental in implementing marketing tools, budgets, employee incentives, service standards and control procedures. The next three years were spent as Director of operations at the Bartle Hall Convention Center in Kansas City where he was involved in planning and servicing events for up to 6,000 people.
Dexter has a down to earth, hands-on management style and we are excited to have him as a new member of our team.
