(Leawood, KS)- Leisure Hotels & Resorts, a Kansas City-based hotel management company has been awarded management of The Horny Toad Complex. The Complex which encompasses several establishments such as: The Horny Toad, The Resort & Yacht Club, The Frisky Frog, Jeremiah's, Peckers and others has been put in receivership
by the banks that carry the loan on the property. Leisure gained management of the Complex on October 29, 2009, and immediately began working with the staff and making the transition as seamless as possible.
Leisure Hotels manages resorts and hotels nationwide, and has previously supported hotels and resorts in receivership situations. Steve Olson, CEO of Leisure, has been gathering information at the complex for the past several weeks and has indicated that there will be substantial changes at the complex."This complex at Toad Cove has many outstanding features, for years the main focus has been the Horny Toad and many people don't associate that with a luxury hotel, fine dining, an upscale yacht club and many of the other amenities that come with this complex." Olson said.
According to Olson, "There will be many changes over the next year, but rest assured, the Horny Toad will still continue to be a fixture at Toad Cove and will continue to operate. We're looking to make the over all experience at Toad Cove an enjoyable one. Whether it's boaters on the water, conferences at the luxury hotel, drive up traffic, weddings, or whatever, they'll find a myriad of options at the new Toad Cove."
The Horny Toad had a reputation of providing live music on the waterfront throughout the summer. That, Olson says, will continue. "You may see some different types of bands and music than you've seen in the past, but the festive feeling will remain."
According to Leisure Properties, they are submitting several changes for the complex and a full marketing/branding plan to the bank. Once that is approved, the changes to the complex will begin. Many exciting plans are in the works, and Leisure is ready to make the Toad Cove area "the spot" for not only leisure travelers but also a key destination for
